DESCRIPTION:Join Your Neighbors to Clean Up for a Brighter Tomorrow!\nOn Sat. 4/26 we are asking all of our South County neighbors and businesses to take a little time and pick up any trash around where they live or work.  We all must come together to keep our community beautiful. \nWe will also be holding trash pickup brigades along Telegraph Rd from Forder Rd up to 255.  If you would like to join the brigade meet us at the parking lot in front of Blarney Stone at 10 AM.  We will have trash bags and safety vests available but please bring gloves. SUMMARY:Father Dickson Cemetery Spring Clean Up
DESCRIPTION:As one of the first public cemeteries available to Black people in the St. Louis area\, Father Dickson Cemetery was the site of 12\,000 burials before it closed in the 1970’s. It is rich in American history and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.\n\nThe preservation and maintenance of this historic place relies entirely on the effort and contributions of volunteers and the community. https://fatherdicksoncemetery.org\n  \nPlanned Tasks for Spring Clean Up\n1. Collecting debris (twigs\, limbs\, etc.) from around the property.\n2. Using string trimmers to trim around headstones.\n3. Moving all debris to a central location.\n4. Using a chopper to chip debris into mulch \nChildren are welcome to participate in age-appropriate tasks.\nItems to Bring: Gloves\, water bottle\nOptional Items to Bring: wheelbarrow\, string trimmer\n\nArrival: Between 9:30 am and 10:00 am\nWork: 10:00 am\nWrap up by noon\nCome and go as you are able\nNOTE: Event will be postponed to May 18 if raining or conditions are too wet.

DESCRIPTION:A food drive to benefit\, Forces for Food Pantry\, on Saturday\, March 23 2024 is sponsored by the Oakville Democratic Organization.  We will receive donations at the Northeast Corner of Handy Man Hardware parking lot at 5405 Telegraph.  Items that are needed are non-perishable food and toiletry items.  The Food drive hours are 10 AM to 2 PM.  Our volunteers will assist you with your donations.  The Food Pantry serves Veterans and Military Families. The sandwiches will be donated to and distributed by The T\, an organization dedicated to harm reduction and mobile outreach to those experiencing violence\, opiate use disorder\, and homelessness.\nDonate the items listed above to assist that effort and/or non-perishable food and personal care items for Feed My People\, which serves people in St. Louis and Jefferson counties.\nDonate gently used or new mittens and/or new socks. Both in adult sizes. They will be donated to The T as well.\nAssist with collecting and boxing donations.
