As one of the first public cemeteries available to Black people in the St. Louis area, Father Dickson Cemetery was the site of 12,000 burials before it closed in the 1970’s. It is rich in American history and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Planned Tasks for Spring Clean Up
1. Collecting debris (twigs, limbs, etc.) from around the property.
2. Using string trimmers to trim around headstones.
3. Moving all debris to a central location.
4. Using a chopper to chip debris into mulch

Children are welcome to participate in age-appropriate tasks.
Items to Bring: Gloves, water bottle
Optional Items to Bring: wheelbarrow, string trimmer
Arrival: Between 9:30 am and 10:00 am
Work: 10:00 am
Wrap up by noon
Come and go as you are able
NOTE: Event will be postponed to May 18 if raining or conditions are too wet.

A food drive to benefit, Forces for Food Pantry, on Saturday, March 23 2024 is sponsored by the Oakville Democratic Organization.  We will receive donations at the Northeast Corner of Handy Man Hardware parking lot at 5405 Telegraph.  Items that are needed are non-perishable food and toiletry items.  The Food drive hours are 10 AM to 2 PM.  Our volunteers will assist you with your donations.  The Food Pantry serves Veterans and Military Families.
